Raspberry Pi is a tiny credit card-sized computer that is capable of performing basic computing tasks .The UK based manufacturer “The Raspberry Pi” foundation intends it to be a aid in promoting basic computer science in schools , developing regions & many other areas where it is not possible to implement a full-fledged computer system .It has been so designed as to work with limited hardware resources with an added advantage of affordability.

This single-chip computer comes with HDMI & USB/Ethernet ports through which it can be connected with a standard TV screen and a keyboard to convert it into a computer system. In its newer versions the provision of increased ports makes it easier to connect multiple devices like a plug-in Wi-Fi Dongle and external data storage. It is, however, equipped with its own reasonably sized internal storage in the form of a MicroSD card. The device is specially useful in educational institutions where it is expected to engage children in more programming tasks and could be involved to equip children with better computer skills needed in the future.
