Frequently Asked Questions
T4LENT is a funding platform for all kinds of projects that are innovative and aimed at bringing a change. Everything from technology, films, games, and music to art, design, health and social causes. T4LENT is full of ambitious, innovative, and imaginative projects that are brought to life through the direct support of people like you!
Many different projects are funding on T4LENT at any given moment. Each project is the brain-child of its creators, who independently create and craft their campaigns. The designers, musicians, artists, and filmmakers on T4lent have complete control and responsibility over their projects. They spend weeks building their project pages, shooting their videos, and brainstorming what rewards to offer backers. When they feel ready, a creator can launch their project on the site and share it with their community.
Every project creator sets their project's funding goal and deadline. If people like the project, they can commit money to make it happen. If the project succeeds in reaching its funding goal, all backers' money gets transferred to the campaigners. If the project falls short, the money gets reimbursed to the backers. Funding on T4LENT is all-or-nothing for all tech, arts & human development categories.
The other side of T4LENT is where we feel the need to give back to the society and encourage campaigners to keep projects relating to social causes or for the general benefit of the society. For campaigners in this category it is mandatory to put up project updates in the form of images and latest developments. Funds for this category are transferred to the campaigners after the project deadline.
Everything on T4LENT must be project for which a campaign is run. A project has a clear goal, like producing a gadget or an application, making an album, a book, a work of art or an achievable humanitarian objective. A project will eventually be completed, and something will be produced by it.
T4LENT allows projects to fundraise for charity or but for purposes with an achievable goal with an end result in that is physically present.
A campaign or project is a finite work with a clear goal that you'd like to bring to life. Think gadgets, albums, games, books, or films.
The required amount or funding goal is the amount of money that a creator needs to complete their project.
A campaigner or creator is the person or team behind the project idea, working to bring it to life.
Backers or contributors are folks who pledge money to join creators in bringing projects to life.
Perks are a creator's chance to share a piece of their project with their backer community. Typically, these are one-of-a-kind experiences, limited editions, or copies of the creative work being produced.
Funding on T4LENT works two ways:
1) All campaigns that fall in the tech, arts, human development categories get all-or-nothing. Which primarily means:
- Contributors will be charged the amount they wish to contribute towards a project when they commit. The campaigners will receive the committed amount when the campaign reaches its funding goal within the time duration of the campaign. This way, creators of the campaign always have the budget they scoped out before moving forward.
- Campaigns that fail to achieve their final funding goal within their mentioned time limit, do not receive any funding. The funds will be reimbursed to the contributors in such a case (after deduction of basic service charges). T4LENT will not compensate any expenses borne by the campaigners during the process for marketing or any other purposes.
2) Campaigns that fall under the social category receive whatever funds they have raised as long as they provide proof of the authenticity of the project in the form of updates. Contributors will be the charged the amount they commit for the campaign as and when they do.
Many backers are rallying around their friends' projects. Some are supporting a new effort from someone they've long admired. Some are just inspired by a new idea, while others are motivated to commit by a project's rewards - a copy of what's being produced, a limited edition, or a custom experience related to the project.
Backing a project is more than just committing funds to a creator. It's pledging your support to a creative idea that you want to see exist in the world.
The majority of initial funding usually comes from the fans and friends of each project. If they like it, they'll spread the word to their friends, and so on. Press, blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and T4 LENT itself are also big sources of traffic and contributions.
Contributors that support a project on T4 LENT become a part of it and get an inside look at the creative process and stay updated with all the developments - the contributors quite literally help that project come to life. They also get to choose from a variety of unique rewards offered by the project creator. Rewards vary from project to project, but often include a copy of what is being produced (a limited edition of the product, CD, DVD, book or even a simple note of thanks!) or an experience unique to the project.
Project creators keep 100% ownership of their work, and T4 LENT cannot be used to offer equity, financial returns, or to solicit loans.
T4 LENT applies a 5% fee* to the funds collected which includes the payment processing fee. If the project funding is not successful the contributions get reimbursed to the contributors after deduction of the service charges.

Basics
It's the project creator's responsibility to complete their project. T4LENT is not involved in the development of the projects themselves. T4LENT only provides a platform where creators and contributors meet and make projects come to life.
T4LENT does not guarantee projects or investigate a creator's ability to complete their project. It is the contributors or the backers that ultimately decide the validity and worthiness of a project by whether they decide to fund it.
Launching a campaign on T4LENT is a very public act, and campaigners put their reputations at risk when they do.
Contributors and backers should look for creators who share a clear plan for how their project will be completed, and who have a history of bringing their creative ventures and other projects to fruition. Creators are encouraged to share links and as much background information as possible so backers can make informed decisions about the projects they support. If a creator has no demonstrable experience in doing something like their project or doesn't share key information, contributors should take that into consideration. Does the creator include links to any websites or other social profiles that show work related to the project, or past projects? Does the creator appear in the video? Have they connected via Facebook,Twitter or other networking websites ?
Having stated that we also encourage the contributors to give a fair chance to creators launching their projects for the first time to encourage fresh talent to emerge. As contributors you shouldn't hesitate to request information from a creator. You can always reach out to campaigners before contributing via the links provided on their project page.
Perhaps you are friends with the project creators, or you heard about the project from a trusted source. If you are looking for more information read through the description and watch the video to get a better sense of the person or team behind the project. Project creators give a description of their team in the cofounders/team section of their campaign description.
In the about campaigner section of each project, you can find additional resources, like links to websites, relevant background information, and in some cases, a connected Facebook account. You can also send the creators a personal message by using the "Ask a question" section and ask more questions.
If problems come up, campaign creators are expected to post a project update explaining the situation. Sharing the story, speed bumps and all, is crucial. Most contributors support projects because they want to see something happen and they'd like to be a part of it. Creators who are honest and transparent will usually find backers to be understanding.
It's not uncommon for things to take longer than expected. Sometimes the execution of the project proves more difficult than the campaign creator had anticipated. If a creator is making a good faith effort to complete their project and is transparent about it, contributors should do their best to be patient and understanding while demanding continued accountability from the creator. If the problems are severe enough that the creator can't fulfill their project, creators need to find a resolution. Steps should include offering refunds, detailing exactly how funds were used, and other actions to satisfy backers. It is always the creator's credibility on the line and keeping the contributors well informed is extremely important.
When a campaign is successfully funded, the campaign creator is responsible for completing the project and fulfilling each reward or send out each perk they have promised. Their fundamental obligation to the contributors is to finish all the work that was promised. Once a campaign creator has done so, they've fulfilled their obligation to their backers. At the same time, backers must understand that T4lent is not a store. When you back a project, you're helping to create something new - not ordering something that already exists. There's always a chance something could happen that prevents the creator from being able to finish the project as promised. If a creator is absolutely unable to complete the project and fulfill rewards, they must make every reasonable effort to find another way of bringing the project to a satisfying conclusion for their backers.
Yes, T4LENT issues refunds. The campaign creators only receive the funds once the project gets successfully funded otherwise the backers get their money back minus the processing fees.
T4LENT is merely a platform for project creators and their backers to come together and create new things. Many traditional funding systems are risk-averse and profit-focused, and tons of great ideas never get a chance. T4LENT is a world full of creative possibilities, one where anyone can help decide which bright idea will become tomorrow's reality and where new developers get an equal chance for developing something great as the older ones.
T4LENT is all about ambitious, innovative, and imaginative ideas. Many of the projects you see on T4LENT are in earlier stages of development from struggling creators who are looking for a community to bring them to life. T4LENT allows creators to take risks and attempt to create new things is a feature, they take both the responsibility and the risk.
The team behind T4LENT will be monitoring the system carefully for any fake or suspicious activity. This team will screen reports that are sent to us by our community and action will be taken if they find something that does not align with our rules.
To gain the trust of our backers we have applied the rule that the campaign only gets funded if it meets it's goal. We encourage the backers to take their time to fully evaluate a project, and inform us with any concerns they might have which we will be looking into immediately.
